PRESENTER AND HOST
Juggling a career in the spotlight with a quiet home life where she and her family enjoy Switzerland’s natural beauty, Monika gives us a glimpse into her world… and even her cosmetics cabinet!
GIVE US THE SKINNY ON THE SECRETS OF YOUR SUCCESS?
When I was 19 years old, working as a medical assistant, I was approached by a modeling agency who invited me to do a photo shoot test with them to see how I felt in front of the camera, acted and reacted. After that, I had modelling jobs in my home country of Switzerland, and then in Milano, Hamburg, Münich, Athens and London. Although I never had a Supermodel career, I built a life for myself modelling.
For the last 10 years, I have been working as a moderator, presenter and event host. This job provides the perfect work-life balance for me.
WHAT IS IT LIKE TO SPEND A DAY IN YOUR SKIN?
Haha. First of all, my day starts with a good coffee. I need a strong – yes, really strong one – to start the day. So, when I get out of bed, I go directly to the kitchen where I have 5 minutes all alone… me and my coffee.
After that, I wake up my two beloved «earthquakes» – my daughter, Alina, 7 years old – and my son, Ascanio, 3 years old. This is when the day really begins. Breakfast with the kids, sending them to school, housekeeping, jobs, meetings and so-on. In the evenings, the same program, kids coming home, husband coming home, cooking, washing…mummy’s life. I love it!
On the weekends and in the evenings, I work as a moderator, presenter and host, which is great because my husband can then look after the kids.
Family time is very important to me, so we try to go ice-skating, skiing, biking, swimming, bouncing, hiking and picnicking together as much as possible. We are happiest in nature, close to the river where we live.
WHAT GETS UNDER YOUR SKIN?
Hmmmm… dishonest people, arrogance and injustice. I appreciate it when people are straightforward; just tell me what you think – don’t go behind my back.
SKIN DEEP: WHAT’S YOUR SWISSLINE GO-TO PRODUCT?
As a moisture boost for my skin, I love the Cell Shock Age intelligence Recovery Serum – mixed together with the Source Booster, which contains hyaluronic acid. I also love Force Vitale Aqua-Vitale Lifting Moisturizer – it smells sooooo good, and Cell Shock Luxe-Lift Rich Cream, especially in winter.
Staying hydrated is really important for your body and skin, so I always drink a lot of water during the day. I am thankful we can drink the water from the tap here in Switzerland.
